E247: The Mid-Summer Episode

This week the spooky boys celebrated the halfway point of this hot-ass summer by checking out three films prominently featuring the season! First, we hang out with the biggest stars of the 90’s for one of the most well known but somehow lesser-seen movies of the era, I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997). Next, the internet has been digging up a movie with the same title and similar premise as the new Ari Aster film and we checked out whether the comparisons are warranted (hint:lol) in our review of Midsummer (2003). Finally, we actually DO check out the new film from Hereditary director Ari Aster, Midsommar (2019).

E246: The POV Episode

This week the spooky boys took a look at three films that utilize point of view sequences to varying degrees of success! First, we watch Elijah Wood (#giveuswood) act like a weirdo and compare him to Blootster the whole time in Maniac (2012). Next, we take a portal to Mars and shoot some demons with The Rock in Doom (2005). Finally, we get hardcore with some first person parkour and general videogame-style violence in Hardcore Henry (2015).

E244: The Rainy Day Episode

This week the spooky boys have got rain on the brain, and what better way to enjoy this wet summer than to sit inside and cozy up to some wet horror movies? First, we dredge up Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer from the depths to help us try to remember What Lies Beneath (2000). Next, we deal with water from the ceiling, black mold and a spooky ghost in Dark Water (2002). Finally, we experience actual real life tornado warnings in the perfectly timed viewing of Take Shelter (2011).

E243: The Movies with "13" in the Title Episode

This week the spooky boys (and one spooky girl) got together to watch and review three films that happen to have the luckiest of numbers in their titles. First, we find out how much it would cost to make someone eat poop in 13: Game of Death (2006). Next, we realize that we’ve accidentally chosen a remake of the first film when we watch 13 Sins (2014). Finally, we gather all the inmates, cops and gang members for a good old siege in Assault on Precinct 13 (1976).

E242: The Chatroom Horror Episode

This week the spooky boys booted up their early 2000’s PC’s to talk over webcam about horror films featuring the World Wide Web. First, we revisit an old pre-podcast favorite from Turkey with a lot of l337 speak called d@bbe (2006). Next, we sign into AOL and hit the swimming chatroom for Swimfan (2002). Finally, we see if it’s possible to enjoy a film about teen drama entirely on a MacBook in Unfriended (2014).

E240: The Dylan Birthday Boy Episode, Year IV

This week the spooky boys celebrated the birthday of their favorite cast-dad, Dylan! Devon, Manton and Blootster each “gifted” a film to Dylan for him to (hopefully) enjoy. First, Manton presents a kung-fu horror film with a rapping Taoist monk in the form of A Chinese Ghost Story (1987). Next, Blootster shoots a hole in the floor with pistols full of nostalgia-bullets to try to escape from Underworld (2003). Finally, Devon tries his best to get Dylan to finally like one single giallo film with his pick, Tenebrae (1982).

E239: The Blootster Birthday Boy Episode, Year IV

This week the spooky boys celebrated the birthday of their favorite little stinker, Blootster! Devon, Manton and Dylan each “gifted” a film to Blootster for him to (hopefully) enjoy. First, Manton offers up a film about bad dads and serial killers in the form of The Clovehitch Killer (2018). Next, Dylan risks it all and gives him a film where Willem Dafoe talks about Elvis Presley in a bad southern accent to a vampiric Ethan Hawke, Daybreakers (2009). Finally, in a Horrorble first, we re-review a movie just so that Blootster can finally see it when Devon presents The Wicker Man (1973).

E238: The Half-O-Ween Marathon 2019 Episode

We're nearly halfway to the only holiday that matters in this universe: Halloween! In honor of "Half-O-Ween", the spooky boys attended an outdoor (well, more indoor this year) marathon put on by some of our lovely listeners. First, we have no mouth and we must scream in Silent Madness (1984). Next, we watch proto-Dale Cooper do some FBI stuff in the 80’s Men in Black-like film The Hidden (1987). Finally, we take a trip back to the early 2000’s and play around with a bull penis in Wishcraft (2002).

E237: The Shyamalaniverse Episode

This week the spooky boys take a look at three films from their “favorite” argument-inciting director, M. Night Shyamalan. First, we take a look at the classic superhero deconstruction featuring Bruce Willis in a poncho, Unbreakable (2000). Next, we watch James Mcavoy carry a whole movie on his big buff shoulders in Split (2016). Finally, we watch a sequel to a new movie and one made almost 20 years ago and wonder how we ever got here in Glass (2019). Also, due to the nature of this trilogy, we get into more spoiler territory than usual, so SPOILER ALERT!

This week the spooky boys took a look at three “fringe-horror” films with a more grounded feel to them. First, we join the absurdly named Detective Loki on the hunt for a killer in Prisoners (2013). Next, we get all religious with Ethan Hawke in First Reformed (2018). Finally, we find ourselves fish out of water with Emily Blunt in Sicario (2015).

First, we dance with no music as Tilda Swinton watches in awe in Suspiria (2018). Next, we watch a monk and a mystic cast spells on each other for an hour in Bewitched (1981). Finally, we check out a newer film from the director of Cure, Creepy (2016).

E231: The Pronoun Episode

This week the spooky boys got together for a grammar lesson when we reviewed three films with pronouns as their titles. First, we get sucked into another dimension that’s totally not The Upside Down from Stranger Things in They (2002). Next, we see just how bare-bones a home invasion film can get in Them (2006). Finally, we check out Jordan Peele’s hotly anticipated new film Us (2019).

It’s two days after St. Patrick’s Day and naturally the spooky boys decided to do something no one asked for: A late St. Pat’s episode featuring ZERO Leprechaun films! First, we watch an undead bishop ride a zombie horse across cg rooftops in Saint (2010). Next, we find out that Patrick really wants his hand-job in Patrick (2013). Finally, we truly test the limits of soul crushing boredom that our minds can take in The Day (2011).

(or at least killer vehicles of some sort, okay?) First, we get on our CB radios and make some truckers horny with Joy Ride (2001). Next, we watch Stephen King’s first, only and hopefully last self-directed film Maximum Overdrive (1986). Finally, we get run off the road by a haunted car from hell in The Car (1977).
